Reflections on Stewardship
The concept of "the steward" is misunderstood in contemporary church life. Stewardship is more than about money, or time, or what we do with them. It is about a journey - an adventure of faith.
Stewardship begins with receiving (John 3:16) Giving is a response. You cannot be a giver until you are a receiver.
The concept of stewardship affirms God's ownership of all. The steward celebrates a partnership with God (1 Corinthians 3:9). Our place in this partnership is discovered in the gifts God shares with us.
We in turn will find true meaning in life when we use these gifts to help others and carry out God's work as disciples.
Our Stewardship Committee works to bring forth new ideas for support of our church and ways to reach out into the community. Part of our effort as a committee is to nurture the many gifts and talents God has bestowed upon us in this church, enabling us all to explore the spiritual, practical and long term dimensions of stewardship, both within and outside the congregation.
