The Stained Glass of Elmwood
"Church"
| In the left-hand light stands Peter.
In the right-hand light stands Paul with a sword in
his right hand, symbolic of his struggle against the
forces of evil, of his advice to Timothy to conduct
himself as a good soldier, and of his later words to
the same young man recalling his own personal fight.
In his left hand he holds a book in the form most familiar
to us. Properly in his time it would have been an armful
of scrolls, indicative of his own powerful letters which
compose so large a part of the New Testament. This window
is dedicated in memory of Dr. & Mrs. F. W. Gilmour,
1966, donated by the congregation. |
